Long time, no updates.
Like everyone else and their mother, I’ve been busy. But this weekend just so happened to be a weekend with very little planned – and twas pretty great. I took the relative downtime to work on a long overdue project – my home music server. Glad to report it’s completely configured with Fedora 14 and works great – looks good too if you ask me.

Server is small Shuttle box on the bottom left. Was quite pleased myself and the glowing light between the books in the upper left section - that's my external hard drive, which backups my server every hour.
Lucky for me, Liz took the opportunity of me working on a project to cook – and cook she did. A quick display of the dishes she prepared this past weekend:

Sausage Pasta, with a light wine sauce, including sun dried tomatoes, artichokes, parmesan, mozzarella and home grown basil. Berger stopped by after his shift was over - he downed 2 bowls of this stuff.

Saturday night - about to process some ingredients to create a jerk marinade. Included lime juice, scallions, habanero chiles, garlic cloves, peppers, thyme, ginger, brown sugar and allspice berries.

Berger helped us finish some of our Oreo Dessert - crushed oreoes, mint cookie ice cream, fudge - all layered and frozen.

Great little lunch innovation: Pita with some of that Feta Dip in it warmed up, then stuffed with a tuna mixture including avocados, tomatoes and just a bit of mayonnaise
Sunday marked Liz and I’s first trip to Trader Joes. We were in the checkout line, and I was commenting about how the store was interesting, good atmosphere – but we went in there looking for specific ingredients and had some trouble, so overall wasn’t really wowed by it. Then the clerk told me the total came out to be $14.13. Then I realized the allure of Trader Joes.

Annnnd finally Sunday dinner - our marinated jerk chicken, grilled. Complimented by some rice concoction with corn, avocados, black beans and other ingredients.

Yea, unfortunately you can’t really go to TJ’s looking for specific ingredients, but it’s a place that’s good to do the bulk of your shopping at and go to GE for anything else. Best cheese selection, cheap. Best frozen foods. Don’t go for produce, though.
And heeeey, you haven’t posted anything about your trip yet! Will that be upcoming?
