I’ve been working in Lansing MI on business for the past 3 years. One of the small silver linings of being stuck in Lansing has been occasional dinners at the Knight Cap. The KC is a great, small, dark, hole-in-the-wall restaurant with excellent service and wine selections.
During one of these recent dinners, much to my delight, I noticed this sign hanging on the wall by the bar:
So you don’t have to squint making it out, it reads as follows:
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming “WOO HOO, what a ride!”
Amen, brother. I obviously did not create this philosophy, you’ve probably even heard different versions of it before (i.e., my version would replace ‘chocolate’ with a cigar, add blasting headphones on your head, etc.), but the underlying message it what is important. Get out there, and do stuff, and do it hard.
My license plate serves to remind me to live as hard as I can every single day. Why would anyone strive to go about life any other way??
